What sarcasm and nastiness?

Tracing the thread in the List archives, I found:

Ken Sybesma remarking that there was nothing wrong with the question, and
that it was perfectly on-topic, then making a few general suggestions,

A completely irrelevant message sent to the list by mistake,

Brian Wolfe's suggestions,

ONE mildly sarcastic comment from Tim Rishton,

Gene Stroble's referral to an Allen group on Yahoo,

Your own comment,

David Wyld's response to your comment,

Your response to his response,

Brian Wolfe's response to an unknown original message about Walker,

Gene Stroble's response to your comments,

And Bruce Fletcher's comments.

I have no idea what went on off-list, but the on-list discussion has
certainly generated a remarkable amount of light, with very little heat.

For my own part, I find Generalmusic/Ahlborn(/Galanti)'s products to be
decent enough, and unlike some manufacturers, they (at least as of the last
time I looked) offered 1-manual "digi-positives" and "digi-portatives", as
well as MIDI boxes that can be used with any ordinary MIDI keyboard. (And I
recently saw a picture of a Devtronix product that appeared to be a retooled
version of an Ahlborn MIDI box, apparently loaded with theatrical samples.
Couldn't get a response out of their web site, though.)
