Oh why not, we aren't in Sydney.
Our culture is not the same. Our cities are spending their money on trying
to help the homeless, deal with crime and drugs. I am not saying that yours
are not. But I am saying that of the few public halls that remain not all of
them are in that great of shape and few are still equipped with organs and
that the City Fathers may not be that interested in organs. The church has
always been a big part of our community. Many serve as public gathering
places and for concerts not directly related to the worship of God. (Sorry
if that last word offends but I am making a point.) And so our big churches
are our concert halls and so these organs serve a dual function. That's why
there has been such a big fuss over any new concert hall that has an organ.
They are quite rare. It is the North American culture we are really talking
about when it comes to how we use our instruments.
Oh yea, and let's not forget those few big egos who get a kick out of
donating the funds for these big boys.
BTW, my firewall can also be a flame retardant. :-)
