Dar List Members,

Please join us for a very special concert this Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 4:00 pm at The Church of Saint Louis, King of France. It is in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the parish.

It will feature the semi-professional choir of Saint Louis Church (augmented), organists Brian Carson and Benjamin Kerswell, and harpist Jann Stein.

Long noted for its music program, the semi-professional choir, organists Brian Carson and Benjamin Kerswell, and guest harpist Jann Stein will be performing works ranging from Medieval chant to modern pieces, including works by Edward Elgar and John Rutter. Several pieces commissioned by the parish throughout the past several decades from internationally-known Twin Cities composer Stephen Paulus, local composer Douglas C. Shambo II and New York City organist McNeil Robinson will also be heard. Of his over 600 compositions, the setting of the “Ave Maria” commissioned by the parish from Paulus was his first and only setting of that text. The organists will also be performing works by Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne.

The concert is dedicated to the memory of John Nasseff, a great friend and benefactor of the parish. It is being presented also in observance of the twentieth anniversary of the installation of the Laura L’Allier and Raymond Houle Memorial organ, the generous gift of Helene Houle in memory of her parents. The organ, built by Casavant Frères of Quebec, has one of the most ornate and celebrated cases of any organ built in the last one hundred years.

The church is located at the corner of Cedar and Tenth Streets, and is located at the Tenth Street station on the Green Line. The public is warmly invited to attend both the concert and a reception afterward; there is no charge to attend.
