Hello Claudio,

I am sorry to hear you feel this way. Has somebody offended you? I was
asking for your insights as they are always valuable.

I disagree with your characterisation of the forum as being mostly devoted
to making and playing. The HPSCHD-L list description covers a much broader
range of topics and while not explicitly mentioning tuning, does not
disallow it. As somebody myself with a background in mathematics and
theoretical physics as well as music I have studied tuning and temperaments
for a very long time, as have you Claudio. The issue with moving such
discussions off list is that all the tuning lists are full of topics such as
microtonality which bear little relationship in general to harpsichord
matters, and the topics around harpsichord tuning are unique and
specialised. Tuning theory, perhaps discuss it on the specialist lists. But
tuning practice and history as it relates to early keyboards is an
excellent, relevant, and valuable topic here.

As to intervention, I don't think that is what you mean, surely.
Intervention is where you break up or stop an argument or dispute, but all I
have ever seen you do is contribute valuable points to discussion. Whether
people agree with you or not is not the point! I think you mean
participation, not intervention, don't you?

Please don't forget Claudio that not everyone has access to all publicly
available literature in libraries or otherwise, and discussion online of
topics also found in print literature is a perfectly valid and healthy
thing.

Don't disappear please!

Andrew
