I too am finding this a useful thread.

I must, however, apologise for adding in rather too much haste my little 
comment on Claudio’s observation. I reacted to the editor’s claim (which 
I am sure is valid) to have translated the original ‘completely’, but I 
failed to take due account of Claudio’s stated date (1611). To avoid 
inadvertently misleading anyone, I should re-state that Bellotti’s 
edition is of /L'Organo suonarino/,1605.
