About its origins I can't guess. You are probably right.
Hope my other answer about the jacks is helpful.
Buy it. Even if you have to or want to upgrade the jacks, the keyboard alone is worth $150. Sounds like fun. Keep in touch.

... I'm told by listers that it's a Zuckerman Z-box, but the name plate was stamped metal and there was a decal or painting on the soundboard; both said "Zen-on." It looked to be in remarkably good shape. A couple of missing strings, a couple of nicks on the case. Looked and felt solid otherwise (well, I mean, it was out of tune and needs regulating.
Googling revealed that Zen-on is a large Japanese publisher/musical instrument dealer. They seem to deal predominantly in instructing students-- was this where the instrument came from, do you think?
