>I've been sent pictures of a Goble spinet and asked to comment. It's 5 octaves, 1971, and has two pedals (!) and what >looks like two registers.
I recently fitted new wooden jacks made by Jacob Kaeser fitted with celcon plectra to on of these Gobles. I think if you heard it in an historic ensemble with your eyes closed you may think it to be a fairly soft authentic instrument. All the jacks face the same way as per harpsichords , the two pedals are half hitch and buff. The owner is pleased with it. It may encourage her to go the full hog for a real harpsichord, eventually. As a further improvement we plan to replace the dead covered bass strings with plain brass. It is one 8'.
