Hello list,

I have a couple of clavichord questions, which may be related to how harpsichord bridges are pinned as well.

Is there a specific angle, measuring from vertical, that is preferred for bridge pins on a harpsichord or clavichord?

Also, how far from the crown or peak of the bridge should they be?

My plans don't show the details here, and I've had trouble getting a good reference from images of historic instruments. On previous instruments I have made an educated guess, but I would rather follow established practice if I can.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

Dan
