I am curious to learn how many others on our list have deployed the clever lifter brackets invented many years ago by Martin Skowroneck. The brackets hang suspended from the bellyrail, and the rear of the keyboard is supported on them. As the case expands and contracts with changes in the weather and seasons, the main source of changes in the height of the stringband, the keyboard travels with it in parallel, with a fixed distance between key tails and strings.
At least one distinguished colleague of mine reports a high degree of success with the lifters in a respectable number of instruments sent to varied climes, and the several instruments I’ve sent out within the last several years with them have behaved admirably. I’d be curious to learn reports from others.
