I cannot agree with this statement.

On friday I will be playing in a concert for two harpsichords at Mission Santa Barbara -- music of Handel, LaRoux, Soler, Planyavsky, Nyman, and Bach. While I have had to scrimp and expend a sizable percentage of my income for my instruments, the other harpsichordist is playing a wonderful French double by Robert Wilson that was given to her (as in a freebie) when she was a student. Even after twenty years she lovingly maintains and plays this cherished instrument on a daily basis and regularly in concerts.

I hope whoever made such a wonderful gift to this young student so many years ago understands what a tremendous thing they have done. I wish such a benefactor had been around when I was in school!
