Way beyond my expectations. The extreme resonance of this wood is very
appropriate to the harpsichord tonal characterictic. The old makers
would have moved to China if they had had this wood
My first doubts about furryness of the surface were a plea to
sharpen my tools. With a new scaple blade you can carve rosettes outta
this stuff. I am glad I chose walnut for the bridge on this first one.
Maybe the next one will really be "all" paulownia. There's plenty of
fundamental but also a balance array of brilliant harmonics. The sustain
is better than I expected. Now to get the rest of the strings in and
stabilized. By tomorrow I should be ready. Unfortunately there are no
"kids here right now to make a U tube, but hopefully that will follow.
My new windows "7" computer is on its way and If I learn to use it
I'll get something on my website. So far I'm being encouraged by my
engineer friends in Florida. The conservative northeast will just have
to plod along as usual.
I'm feeling the pressure to do a clavichord but first I will need
to order up some one inch boards. The case will most likely require the
strength of a stress skin truss bottom. It's all very new to process it all.
