Hi Charles,

I was, without feeling the need to explicitly mention it, referring to
harpsichord, since this is the topic of discussion on this particular
list.

Beats are clearly audible on your example, but I also neglected to
mention that it is also the case that one listens for beats between
higher overtones as well as the fundamental when tuning, to gain an
overall impression, and these can be very weak in amplitude, but
nevertheless important.
