If yall recalled quite a few years ago when I purchased a used Delf
harpsichord from EMS, I posted a few pictures on my website and tried to
ask for everyone's help to figure out what it is, and who made it, and
none seemed to know. The closest conclusion is that it is a Zuckermann
clone.

Thanks to the world of google, I managed to track down some old
advertisement from the Early Music Journal. I have downloaded a couple of

They are the back of the issues, 2/2 and 13/4. Despite the latter's
numeric designations, actually both were from 1974.
To sum it up, one of the advertisements is from the Cambridge Music Shop,
claiming being the specialists in literatures such as teh Viola da Gamaba
Society and Lute Society publications. But at the bottom of its ad, the
shop claims that "We stock DELOF harpsichords, MOECK recorders and LA
BELLA Lute & Viol strings".

Since I do not have subscription for the website, I cannot look through
all the past issues carefully, but from the little that I tried, Cambridge
Music Shop seemed to continue advertising until 2000.

Further research shows that the shop address is now 1 a All Saints
Passage, Cambridge, 01223 351 786 (so not much had changed).
I then search for Delf, and coem up with this:

So now we know "Delf" is probably made by someone named eric Delf, and
sold by the Cambridge Music Shop.
I cannot seemed to find an email address of the Cambridge Music Shop.
Also I cannot find Eric Delf. I wonder if any of you have contacts with
the Shop and can ask question about the maker and his instruments, and
perhaps even be able to find the maker if he is still alive.
If any of you still have old issues of Early Music, or have subscriptions
to read online, then perhaps you will be able to find more information by
simply lookign up 1974:2 and 1979:7.
