Hi Chris,

As somebody myself who does complex professional engraving using lilypond,
I find this announcement deeply problematic. MusicXML as an interchange
format is severely limited in what it can express, and its acceptance is
not universal. It's a barely adequate exchange mechanism. For example, they
are not going to be able to express a lot of 17-18c scores as the
notational symbols are subtleties are just not supported, and unlikely to
be. Beware of kickstarter projects is all I can say. And this seems to be a
MuseScore centric effort. MuseScore is completely incapable of even setting
triple dots, commonly used in baroque music.

Andrew
