So I took a tape measure to the two instruments yesterday.



Without a micrometer handy, I couldn't verify the pin size, but they sure look the same to my eye.



And the scaling is generally the same, except in the very top octave when indeed the Zuckermann is shorter and logically more sensitive.



I'll have to look for time to rig up a protractor on the wrench, with frequency counter handy and make a methodical measurement.



Let's see how that goes - I'm first an engineer, but have a tendency to want to ignore that part of my brain when I get near the wonderful keyboards....

but yes, different wires will render differently around the bridge and nut pins.

I may be wrong, but different wires respond different to a twitch of the tuning pin. But maybe we are barking up the wrong tree and the tuning pins are not comfortably snug in their holes...
