I just came across this double manual spinet, maker unknown:
http://collections.ed.ac.uk/mimed/record/14993
Technical description:
- Double manual bentside spinet.
- Inner-outer case construction.
- Compass 50 notes, G₁/B₁ - C₆ [GG/BB - c'''].
- 2 sets of strings, 1 × 8-ft (lower manual), 1 × 4-ft (upper manual).
- Inner case of walnut with a soundboard of pine.
- Repair History: Jacks replacements, probably by Morley. Originally with dog-leg jacks, the keyboards could be coupled by sliding. The carved, silvered stand is not original. Restored by Hugh Gough before 1962.
This is the first time I see such an instrument. Have there been copies made of this instrument? Any idea how it sounds?
Greetings,
Chris.
