Shame on you Bill:-)

As mentioned, I gave you my way and my jack rails are always rebated al
la Ruckers and the French.I used to stitch the layers as mentioned by
Bill, that's a good idea especially if the edges are to be seen but I
now leave them in layers but well stretched.I throw you a time bomb now,
a least it will bring some explosions:-) :-(

I stick the ends of the cloths together with COPYDEX having assessed the
cloth length I need.One end is then tacked with three tacks and the
cloth is then pulled into tension and then three tacks pin the other
end.Copydex is a super adhesive for cloths, when used properly it does
not absorb into the material and harden it.I was brought up at
Broadwoods to use a thicker hot glue for all felt and leather work,
still do for some things and to avoid getting glue under working areas;
Copydex is a modern glue that takes away that problem and it is so easy
to remove material for renewing after wear.It is also very useful for
voicing soft leather buff pads.The purist will cringe I know but there,
I am but a 21c. maker of new instruments.
