Dennis, c" at 340mm is slightly over 13", way too long for brass. If the 
instrument were to be strung for a-415, c" should be not longer than 11" 
and for a-440, even shorter. It seems clear the version of the virginal 
you are stringing demands brass in the bass and a crossover to iron 
somewhere further up the compass.
