Thanks everyone: Michael, Michael, Jack, James, Andrew, Gerald - I have
gotten something from each of your replies.
Michael J that gave me a good bellylaugh but Andrews' comment that it aint
bone rings true with me, I want it to be real bone, I now know that I dont
want to pay $65 an octave for the real thing when a bone costs $2 - or $30
for two pieces of camel bone either, though I know where to get it if I need
to!
Michael's tip of epoxying the bone to a piece of scrap did the trick, it
creates a stable workpiece that can be safely manouvered through the bandsaw
- going slowly and carefully I can get an accurate piece off the bone and
Jacks advice of sanding flat after each pass is the way to go.
I'm now getting useable pieces of bone off the bandsaw with this setup,
there's dust and the stuff stinks badly but its glorious to touch and a
beautiful colour and I know its the real deal.
Thanks guys!
