I spared the bandsaw and found bone very easy to cut up, and slice,   
with a tool Doug has enjoyed using - the angle grinder with the very  
thin cutting disc (out of doors)
I made flats rubbing the pieces on a large piece of ultra coarse  
abrasive paper  and then thicknessed by planing in a recess. the rest  
of the fine dimensioning also with small planes.  Bleaching was in  
the summer sunlight.
I do Wonder at the labour without power tools, and wonder if they had  
thicker bones, if animals had then lived longer(?) I have not yet  
seen a bone big enough to yield a whole sharp, and I have been  
through 2 dozen femurs
