having worked with Keith (83-5) I still like to make dogleg coupling
mechanism on doubles, when desired by the customer, -yes, because it
makes the touch more transparent and a bit lighter. The lower manual
is moving in and a block on each key (about 10 mm high with a little
bit of cloth on top then sits under the dogleg of the upper manual jack.
One disadvantage is that the actual process of coupling is a bit more
physical work and not quite as easily done as moving in the upper
manual. -A bit more organ-like in a way... The other problem comes in
when You want to transpose, because the upper manual has to be
supported so the lower manual moves freely.
cheers from North Germany, Dietrich
