Hi Chris,
According to your data, I obtain a string tension of 17.32 kg force (169.9
N to be correct, but probably nobody uses Newtons in this context).
It's hard to see why your figure is out, since it is a straightforward
calculation not involving approximations. If you are doing a lot of
calculations and they are all out, that may be of concern. Can you show
your working? (Admittedly 140g force out is not much in practical terms,
but errors can accumulate).
My figure agrees precisely with David's. Perhaps you entered a digit
incorrectly in your computation?
