Good afternoon friends from the list!
Some list members "disappear" without telling. I prefer to tell.
I had many reasons to put together my Unequal Temperaments book a few years
ago:
- To have a consistent acoustical and historical picture for myself.
- To share this knowledge with others.
- To avoid having to reply to daily personal emails.
I find now that there are in this list almost daily new posts about
temperaments. This poses several issues:
1) This is a Harpsichord list, mostly devoted to making and playing
instruments, there are other online forums for tuning.
2) Most of the posts ask (or reply) matters that are duly explained in
publicly available literature.
3) I find myself intervening in all these exchanges. Some ask my
interventions, others like them, others do not. But most importantly, I am
"monopolising" the list, which is certainly not good.
Conclusion: I find it pointless to proceed with this burden, and therefore I
hereby declare a moratorium in my interventions about in Tuning and
Temperament matters in this and other lists.
Thanks to everybody!
CDV
