I am familiar with those Zuckermanns a friend has one with jammed registers so he has to remove one row of jacks to tune it and always uses 2x8'. I built a paris baffo many years ago and it also had a "hollow" wrestplank and the gap closed so I had to cut a hole in the side to remove the registers and plane them. These wrestplanks with the live soundboard can be made to work if they are well engineered such as the Cresci which is virtually a braced box.
