Martha Cook, Bruce Alan Brown and I are pleased to announce the launch of the Gustav Leonhardt Pedagogy Archive. Our memories of concerts, and Leonhardt’s many recordings, reflect only a part of his musicianship and aesthetic principles. The aspect of his legacy that will have the most impact over time is his teaching. He taught numerous masterclasses and summer courses, and through the years accepted some 150 harpsichord students at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
All his former students will be contacted and asked, via a questionnaire, to describe their lessons, including the repertoire covered and Leonhardt's approach to the instrument and its music. This primary-source material will be stored in an online archive and publicly shared through a free-access website. Please pass on this announcement to any former Leonhardt students you may know; or contact the archive’s Editorial board on [log in to unmask] If you would like to contribute financially to the creation of the Archive, or want to know more about it, please visit our crowdfunding page. https://www.gofundme.com/5tggb-gustav-leonhardt-pedagogy-archive
