From the Instrument Workshop you can order Mapes steel, which is your best option for scaling and sound.

Kind regards,

Anne A.

Subject: Wittmayer strings needed for c2 and c#3

Dear members,

As I feared: the beast needs new strings for c2 and c#3 which have a
sounding length of 385 mm and 200 mm. If my calculations are correct, then
Rose strings will break. Are there any alternatives?

Sincerely,

Chris.
