The "passions" - particularly shame and pride - have always been known to be quite dangerous. Criticizing "playing" is particularly touchy, but any topic can be sensitive. When I first joined this list and mentioned that I had a stock of aluminum jackslides I was still using. I got as much flack for that as I initially got by suggesting that something about E.C.'s playing standing up might be helping her do what she wants to do..

I think people were just shocked to see a thread discussing the actual
playing of a harpsichord, rather than making one or tuning one.
