Lets not forget the very popular tapered round pins used on italian 
virginals. They look like little violin tuning pegs and are often turned 
from ebony and often lost on original instruments. They are especially 
useful when the banen is very thin and needs sucking in towards the 
center. Bill's idea is easier if you can find a matching piece of stock 
that has the right slight bow inward.   JP
