Strangely enough, the rest of the instrument is rather well made. The jacks are in wood but the tongues are in plastic.

The sound is indeed metallic and doesn't invite to play long on the instrument. I imagine the builder had a huge stack of bronze wire laying around and wanted to get rid of it 😊
