Thanks for your information. I’m aware of this source.
This wood has been around for many years. The prices are just hallucinating. Same for his soundboard woods. I once bought a plan + photographs from Mr. O’Brian and up to this day I’m still waiting for the remaining photographs to be delivered.
I’ve heard that popes are being buried in cypress. The reason is that this wood doesn’t rot in the ground. I won’t go further on this thought of speculation but I’m sure you get my drift of where to find a cheap source of wood 😊

Not sure if transport costs would be prohibitive, but this source of older timber specifically for harpsichords may be of value to you:

If there is any left, that is.
I would imagine many timber yards in Italy would just have construction grade cypress and not old wood either.
