The best place to get covered strings in North America is from Schaff Piano Supply Co. in Lake Zurich, IL. They just made 5 bass strings for my pedal harpsichord and they are great. They can make any length, any diameter from the smallest on up. Their contact info is as follows:

I know some of you will think this is AWFUL, because Schaff is an industry devoted to the modern piano. But you also might find out that they carry many supplies that the harpsichord making industry uses at much less than some harpsichord suppliers.

Google is usually one's friend in this instance, but I cannot find anything about Tim except his address and phone number in various "yellow page"-type websites.
