Hi Mandy,
Technically, one equal tempered semitone down from standard concert pitch is 415.3 Hz, not 415 Hz. But in practice this hardly matters.
Cleartune will take the decimal point.
You only need to set the A4 Calibration reference frequency in the settings page, not the other notes.
ET. Dear me. Why?
Cleartune has an easy way to enter custom temperaments apart from the ones it ships with. If you like, I can send you the settings for Lehmann’s Bach 1722 tuning, as a breath of fresh air that is not ET, but usable in all keys.
We had a recent discussion on the list that touched on tuning with electronic devices versus tuning by ear. You say you lack time. I am not convinced that tuning with a device is any quicker. It may help you set the bearings a little faster, but please understand that for reasons of accuracy you should not use a tuner to tune out the octaves up and down. String inharmonicity and other factors mean this is very inaccurate. Your ear integrates all these factors better. So, once you have mastered setting the bearings for some temperaments you like, it is quick to set them by ear.
Andrew
