Clarification is needed here, with regard to Andrew's mention of Leonhardt
using an Amner for his Goldberg recording. Yes, GL did such, but that was the first of his three recordings of the Goldbergs, in the early 1950s.
GL recorded them again in the '60s on his 
Skowroneck, and then again in the late '70s on a Dowd. Leonhardt was emphatic in his dismissal of the "revival" instruments, and preference for truly historically based instruments.
