Thank you for your input, I'm glad I can get advice from someone with so much experience. Especially I'm interested in your comments since you've built instruments based on that particular example.
Yes I'm using picea abies for the soundboard, with quite dense grain. It is large soundboard and a large instrument so I guess it makes sense to go with thicker board as you said. I meant no disrespect for the people who made the drawing, I think we should all be gratefull to have this resources in drawings we have today.
I'm very interested in your project with Stephen Birkett strings, can't wait to hear the results and impressions.
