Dear Tony

It's a little beyond my understanding why makers would like to build
square pianos today when there are so many surviving originals available.
But it can be done: Japanese maker Mr Akio Obuchi exhibited one of his
manufacture at the Yamanashi exhibition near Tokyo in late April, and
Paul Downie in Auckland New Zealand manufactured a complete action a few
years ago to fit a shirt-box conversion.

I'm in California to tend the keyboards for the Carmel Bach Festival
until mid-August, and can send you a sample of some real "whalebone" to
try if you like to contact me off list with your postal address.

Regards

CB
