I think it is very simple. When I joined this list, and I cannot 
remember how long ago it was, there seemed to be endless messages about 
temperament, from which I learned a lot. But practically every 
conceivable angle of the subject was covered. So if we want to find out 
anything we can search the archive.

And some members of the list have been admonished recently for not doing 
so.

With regard to playing, and especially matters of style, a good teacher 
will impart more than can be conveyed by an e-mail message, interesting 
though these may be. maybe Frescobaldi's advice is worth following. Put 
simply: 'keep practising until you discover what I mean'.

Whereas problems or difficulties encountered by makers can probably be 
discussed, and information exchanged, more effectively by e-mail.
