The Vogel Westfalisches Eisen Fe99 is fine wire in itself. I keep stock of the three upper gauges, to be used on instruments with an extended scaling in the treble (older harpsies made in the steel-era). The Vogel Westfalisches Eisen stands up to higher scales/tension. Otherwise I gladly use Birkett's p-wire. Stephen also makes a special batch of p-wire that has upscale room for at least a semitone. Note, none of these comments deal with the sound of wires, just the scaling issue.
