I come from Adelaide in South Australia. When I was a Kid some Sydney
people asked me how long I had been over from England because of my local
accent which is different to the rest of Australia. I recently heard some
people from Maine ,they sounded almost like South Australians at least as
far as the vowels went. On the other hand I notice that young people from
Sydney seem to be picking up American accents.
