Hi Bruce,
Hear, hear!
I see no problem with going into material that may have arisen on the list
in the past. The people who want to impose strictures against that seem to
assume that if something has been discussed the matter is closed and no
further debate is possible and definitive answers given, and you can go and
jolly well use a search engine. But there are always new people, and new
contexts, and further research, and more evidence and more experience and
more angles. I am all for revisiting topics and discussions. One that will
never die, nor should it, is the Great Glue Debate - always useful
information comes out of this one.
I am also compelled to say that after a period where the list appeared to
be moribund, causing me the unhappiness of thinking that nobody anywhere
has any interest in harpsichords any more, the list has sprung to life
again with a great energy, and this is really great. [I wonder why? The
recent lunar perigee mentioned by David P.? :-)]
As to temperament topics, the list principles state " The list is an open
forum for all topics related to these instruments, including their theory
and principles of construction." I'd say that covers it, without mentioning
it explicitly. Temperament as you say is such an integral part of the
harpsichord 'gestalt' that it cannot be ignored.
Also from me great thanks to our learned colleagues on this list who so
generously share their learning and experience.

Note: opinions expressed on HPSCHD-L are those of the individual con-
