Owen, thanks for sharing the #22 drill bit size.  I asked Stephen at the Instrument Workshop what size Lutz was recommending for 4.1mm pins and he found the that it was a #27.  I tried the #27 with a 4.1mm pin but it seemed awfully tight- took much more pounding than I felt comfortable with to get it in.  I just checked how well the pin goes into a hole with a #22 bit and it seems just about right.
