I should begin by admitting that I am viciously anti-smoking, having
been addicted to the wretched weed for many years!
Homes and cars are the first places where smoking bans ought to be
enforced, especially if there are children present. Kids whose
parents smoke have far higher instances of lung and breathing
problems, espcially asthma, that kids from non-smoking homes.
Additionally I read of a woman who died from lung cancer who had
never smoked in her life: her husband smoked heavily however!
Smoking in the open air cannot possibly cause the problems that
indoor smoking can, so California's legislation is misdirected.
Back in the 80s, the lady who lived at Claremont Manor here in
Virginia used to drive around in a car with a bumper sticker: "I
Smoke and I Vote! Fight tobacco legislation." She died of lung
cancer a few years later!
Harpsichord content: a few years ago I brought into my shop for
repair, a harpsichord owned by a heavy smoker. The next morning I
went out to my shop only to be confronted by a very noticeable
tobacco sme11!
Best!
