Hi folks!

Yesterday, July 4th, I was contemplating Thomas Jefferson,
and in particular, a most interesting fact about his musical
taste.

Even after living in France, and becoming intimately
acquainted with French harpsichords, when he returned to
Monticello, he ordered - a Kirckman!

Had he just wanted a veneered instrument, he could easily
have had a veneered Taskin (the Petit Trianon Taskin
fortepiano is veneered), but he didn't!

Isn't today's adherance to the ubiquitous French double just
a teeny bit obsessive?

Best!
