I am afraid I cannot agree with the Facebook detractors here, and in fact, I am more likely to spend time combing the Facebook page than to sift through the list emails. For one, it takes far less time. If you don't want to watch a video on Facebook that someone else finds interesting, then just skip it--you can see what the content is in the posting. The archives here are great, but so much of the content is descriptive and, frankly, without easy access to illustrations, often confusing. The photographic and video Facebook contributions by such builders as Bill Jurgenson, Michael Johnson, Owen Daly, Martin Spaink, Jan Kalsbeek, Andrea Restelli, et al., and players such as Andrew Appel, Skip Sempe, Ketil Haugsand, Dominic Eckersly, et al., have increased my knowledge immeasurably. For example, Martin Spaink, who is currently working on the Laeske harpsichord from the 1760s, recently uploaded a number of absolutely fascinating photos of the instrument. Owen also uploaded some gorgeous photos demonstrating his use of real Vermillion and Prussian Blue pigment. Great stuff!
I'll continue to follow and participate in this list, but the hotspot is on Facebook.
