dc: I have both a harpsichord and an upright piano dating from the
Edwardian era. I have tuned them both many times by myself. The piano
needs different equipment from a harpsichord because each note has
multiple strings. I use a tuning programme on a laptop for both
instruments. I have, on occasion, tuned the piano as if it were a
harpsichord with no difficulty.
There are several books available on how to tune/repair a piano. You
might like to check them out and choose one. Piano tuning felt, rubber
wedges and other supplies are readily available thru the mail.
