We all make mistakes Domenico! Ralph Kirkpatrick in his famously-many-times
revised treatise on Scarlatti wrote on p. 179 that "no one sonata ever
exceeds the five-octave range". This as we have seen is not true due to
K.485.
Without in any way comparing myself to the great Kirkpatrick, obviously
about K.483 I stand corrected: it is a misprint. Mea culpa!
Interestingly, in my first edition I only mentioned K.485, then I added
K.483 in the 2nd edition, which means that I found something. Have looked
around a bit but have not found the correct number. Perhaps some other kind
list member has the answer?
