Our boat virginal is entirely brass strung. Since 2005 we have had it on
a sailboat in Maine and Massachusetts from May into September each year,
We have not had much problem with strings, and the near-constant RH,
whatever it is, has made the instrument more stable than we would
expect. More stable than it is in our NY Apt. the other 8 months.
Needless to say, the sea is only 3 or 4 feet away from the virginal in
the summer. FWIW
