Here's something I've been wondering for a while:

Is there any historical precedent for the habit some of us with small
instruments have of retuning our low C#'s and D"# to A and B respectively? Or
is this just a modern poor man's (or poor person's) excuse for split keys?

Thanks,
Rebecca
