Thanks for all the replies. I should have been more specific. I was not
referring to the flat springs as found e.g. in Italian harpsichords but to
string-shaped (round) springs. Personally I still prefer the design with the
hog bristles (and one can make tasty dishes with the remainder of the hog as
well).
