Hi Andrew,

So you are heavily constraining your search criteria - you want a vinyl LP AND a good historical harpsichord, together. The overlap between the periods of development of both of those is a fairly small time frame. You are unlikely to find what you are seeking.

You could try google you know. My search for 'de Falla harpsichord recording’ produced dozens of hits. Since it is actually quite difficult to obtain a Pleyel for a recording in general, you will find probably most of the recordings are not using one. You will have to make your own enquiries as to what instrument is used, as this is normally not specified.

My colleague over here in Australia owns a Pleyel from the 1960’s, fully restored. It is a glorious instrument with a wonderful sound, when adjusted and renovated by a skilled maker. If you were to hear and play this instrument in the flesh you would surely change your opinion. Don’t forget that a lot of the ‘bad sound’ you are hearing is due to miserable eraly recording quality, and not so much the instrument.

Or are you just winding us up?

Andrew
