Just a quick question -- My consort plays the Isaac version of this
song, which is about the most cheerful Isaac pice we know, which
seems odd given that it is called 'Desperate Fortune'. I also have an
intabulation of a Josquin version ('Fortune d'un Grande Tempo' -- is
a Grande Tempo fast or slow?), which sounds vaguely related. But the
original song or the words thereto I do not have.

A-R editions has recently, with their usual thoroughness, published
an edition of 36 settings of this song, which purportedly includes
the original; the price is $92, which seemed a bit steep for a
broadside ballad, which is all I really wanted out of it. Does
anybody know of a cheaper source for the original?
